Gabriel is a fascinating figure in the traditions from different religious faiths. Christians, Muslims, Jews and even agnostics, recognise the involvement of angel 'Gabriel' in their traditions or beliefs. Over 2000 years ago, the Jew’s nation was suffering from the oppression of the Roman Empire. It is then when Gabriel appears to a young woman and told her that their saviour and deliverer was finally coming.
Similar to Mary’s story, there are times when we have experienced sadness, anxiety or great loneliness. It is then when a friendly gesture and words of encouragement can help us to move on. Gabriel is that voice which helps us to share what is good within us breaking the fear of caring.
Gabriel has found its inspiration on verses in the Bible. Although, not based on the historical events but on the emotional status quo of the characters, Gabriel is a delightful evening full of amazing choreographies and wonderful music. Using the vocabulary of contemporary dance and Martin Sierra’s unique neo expressionist style, a cast of selected dancers bring to Adelaide Fringe 2014 an evening of joy and reconciliation.
Enjoyed the performance it was interesting and well choreographed. One small criticism was that one of the male dancers seemed to be a little bit unprepared.
