WORK

WORK

Steph Hutchison's solo WORK is fuelled by an interest in pushing the body to its physical limit. A hybrid performance, interweaving dance, circus arts, improvisation, sports and theatre, WORK is inspired by the physical journey of Julie Moss who in 1982, competed in her first Ironman without ever completing the total distance before.

Steph pushes to and beyond the limits of her physical ability during the performance. Her aim is to push herself past exhaustion to another level.

This work is part of Tertiary Dance Week at Dancehouse.

Steph is very talented and the show is quite unique but would have enjoyed the show more had there been more music and dance.

physical and engaging as an act of ability but not as through on the artistic side.

I enjoyed this show. I think of it as more performance art than straight dance - there was little music and the performance was a combination of dance, circus arts (mime, tissu and balancing) and gymnastics. It had humour - particularly the segment in the platform shoes - fluidity of movement and great strength. I'd be interested to see more of this dancer's work.

I felt that it lacked story music and focus. The performer had incredible strength and talent but I did not find this show entertaining.
