JAZZ in the Vines

JAZZ in the Vines

It’s the longest running festival in the Hunter Valley

Saturday October 26th, fans of all ages will descend on Pokolbin for one of the biggest days on the Hunter’s social calendar. It’s about Music, Food, Wine and Dance, it’s Australia’s biggest mosh pit with over six hectares of freedom to enjoy a spectacular day in the fresh air and sunshine.

Boasting an impressive line-up of home grown talent and overseas acts, this one is not to be missed.

The lineup this year includes, the Divine Diva Marcia Hines, James Morrison with his soul band, The Bamboos from Melbourne with their modern take on soul, funk and jazz, Jan Preston the Queen of the Boogie piano, Bob Barnard the sensational Traditional Trumpeter, The Shuffle Demons all the way from Canada and have to be seen to be believed and the biggest and baddest big band around the Admirals Own Big Band.

Jazz in the Vines is much more than just the music with the festival site taking on a vibrancy of its own with various market stalls, local wine makers, restaurants and produce in the spacious, laid back setting that Jazz in the Vines has made its trademark.

Jazz is one of the few Hunter Valley festivals to involve more than the one local winery and this year Tyrrell’s , Drayton’s, Tamburlaine and Petersons Champagne House will be providing great wines while a host of local restaurants will be cooking up some fantastic food.

Many thanks to Irina and the On-the-house team for securing this one. Right around the bush fire episode, the air was pungent but this didn't stop the crowds quaffing their way through masses of wine while listening to blast-from-the-past artists like Marcia Hines. Timeless acts such as the James Morrison quartet set the scene for Hines as a good part of the once-sedentary audience was up dancing. The Hunter Valley is always a good jaunt from Sydney, but if it can be combined with jazz, all the better.
Kudos to Irina.
