With trademark pizzazz and energy, Flinders Quartet and the internationally renowned percussionist Claire Edwardes are presenting a spectacular concert tour in late October inspired by the energy of dance for the finale of the group’s popular 2013 subscription series.
Featuring a number of works arranged for quartet and percussion including Tango Ballet, Libertango and Oblivion by the Argentinian tango composer Astor Piazolla, Ross Edwards’ Arafura Arioso, and selected movements from Prokofiev’sRomeo and Juliet Suite commissioned by Flinders Quartet from the young Australian composer and arranger, Jessica Wells.
In a year that has seen the Quartet welcome guest artists for every concert, Sydney-based ACO violinist Cameron Hill, the founding first violinist of the highly regarded Hamer Quartet and winner of the 2006 ABC Young Performer of the year Award, will join them for this program.
