Queen's College is excited to present the renowned SERAPHIM TRIO on Monday, October 7th, 2013 at 7:30PM in the Junior Common Room.
Seraphim Trio is Helen Ayres Violin, Anna Goldsworthy Piano and Timothy Nankervis Cello. Since forming in 1994, the trio has established itself as one of Australia's most recognized and respected chamber groups. Winner of the 'Leading Piano Trio', as well as the 'Audience Choice' Awards in the 2001 Australian National Chamber Music Competition, Seraphim Trio now offers its own acclaimed subscription series (now in its seventhyear) alongside a touring schedule which incorporates private soirees and high profile music festivals throughout Australia and internationally. Seraphim Trio maintains a robust commissioning program and is frequently broadcast on ABC Classic FM. Seraphim Trio's most recent recording, Trout, was released by ABC Classics in February 2012, to critical acclaim.
Seraphim Trio will be joined by virtuoso trumpet player DAVE ELTON to play works by Beethoven, Hummel, Da Falla and Weill. Elton, who plays with the Sydney Symphony Orchestras, is coming to Melbourne especially for this concert. The program includes a new arrangement of the Threepenny Opera suite by Kurt Weill.
