Songs from the Open Road

Songs from the Open Road

Songs from the Open Road is the brand new cabaret show from MO & ACE Award nominee Miriam Waks who will share songs and stories from her year of travels to over 10 different countries. It will include music from Asia, Europe, North and South America.

After a year and a half of non-stop travels, Miriam returns to Australia from her current New York residence to debut this exciting new show at Camelot, before performing it as part of the Melbourne Cabaret Festival. Songs from the Open Road is a celebration of travel, multiculturalism, people, and most of all, the music which makes us. It features the talents of Miriam Waks, Michael Bartolomei, Jim Pennell, Mark Harris, Jamie Cameron, and Eddie Bronson.

Hungry for adventure and the opportunity to further explore her love of distinct musical styles, Miriam Waks left her Sydney home to travel the world. She found herself studying tango music in Buenos Aires, meditating in India, scatting with jazz legends in New York, and dabbling in hardcore Chinese karaoke. Along the way she crossed paths with many of her musical icons. Friends, lovers, teachers, musicians – the people she met on her travels at every turn shared with her their stories and songs – the stories and songs that have shaped their lives, identities, cultures, and countries.
