Tunisian-born vocalist and oud virtuoso Dhafer Youssef, delivers achingly beuatiful music for the modern world. Joined by Youssef's talented jazz ensemble of piano, bass and drums, ancient Middle Eastern traditions merge with contemporary European-style jazz to create a heady mix that is truly original. The music was amazing, I felt the stand outs were the accompanying musicians, Youssef disappeared off station numerous times and actually did not sing a lot. The drummer and pianist in particular were worth attending the show for.

The Dhafer Youssef Quartet was outstanding. It was a lot jazzier than I expected, but the quality of the musicianship was excellent and I loved it when he sang. He has the most outstanding voice. An excellent concert.
