igor and the Cranes .... Remember Bambi and Flipper ? Well here's Karl the Great, no less than a crane making his way from Ukraine to Africa via Israel and a little pond that Igor and his classmates have created. The story begins in Russia and we follow Igor as he resettles in Israel, teased as he is for his would-be eccentricities. Nevertheless, he brings his classmates around and it becomes a major initiatve in the name of cranes, a large migratory bird like a stork. Israeli directors know how to put on a movie and this does not disappoint with lots of feel-good moments.

The movie itself was good (numbers)
However, what impressed me most was the way in which event cinemas Bondi Junction operated the film. We were treated very kindly by all staff, with persons at the door to guide each person to their seats. I was impressed to find the movie playing in a Vmax cinema which was a comfortable and welcome surprise! great festival, will be there again next year!

'Fill the Void' depicted the contentious practice of arranged marriages. A few people got paired up, the central couple after a family tragedy. The arrangements were presented as happy outcomes. It was an intresting film which showed Jewish customs and festivities. A film worth seeing as it explores an issue common to many cultures.

Unfortunately, I did not attend the Jewish Film Festival as I was not able to pre-book the tickets for the movie that I wanted to see & the session sold out.
