ATLANTIS

ATLANTIS

BY LALLY KATZ
19 MARCH – 13 APRIL 2024

“A story is real. Hope is real. I see that now.”

A play about ovaries and climate change and pursuing your dreams.

Australian writer ‘Lally’ is on a quest to make sense of her life, seeking to rediscover the lost innocence of her childhood in America, when things were simple, carefree and defined.

Using both autobiographical fact and flights of imagination, the writer examines the turmoil of her personal situation within the context of a country gone crazy with excess and deception.

By turns self-deprecating, incurably romantic, optimistic and cynical, her journey through a maze of outrageous situations is hilarious and intoxicating.

Infused with a delicious blend of the real and the fantastical, this superb example of theatrical magic realism takes us on a wild adventure.

“A joyous epic of self-discovery with plenty of heart” Limelight

Such a unique concept. Original and thought provoking.

Very long (2hrs 45min)

Fantastic play! What a cast

MmmBerry

Really enjoyed this play. I think the ending got a bit too abstract and didn't quite pay off, but it was for the most part entertaining and the way the set was used was very well done.

Not my type

Masso

Not my cup of tea I'm afraid.

Ninja

I could not relate to the main character. Excessive narration, which would have been better acted out, so the emotional scenes would be more heartfelt. Didn't have much of a storyline, considering it was 2hr 45 mins

AngieB

This was too silly for my taste, altho the cast did a good job of presenting it.

First half was engaging and funny. The latter half was not as well developed however there were still a few bits with humour but not like before. Loved the use of the set with the blackboards and windows especially the hurricane scene, very clever. We thought that the Black Panther turned out to be everything that she had learned not to need.......

Lisalove

Great actors with some really funny parts. Very intimate performance.

Greydog

Georgia was excellent. The play was a bit too long.

Tori
