Lé Nør [the rain]

Lé Nør [the rain]

Monash University Performing Arts Centres is proud to present the Victorian premiere of The Last Great Hunt’s award-winning, sell-out faux foreign film live on stage.

A celebration of 80s nostalgia set in the small island nation of Sólset - a once thriving metropolis in the northern seas, but now a decade-long drought-stricken community. With only a few hopeful residents remaining, audiences will experience a heartfelt but hilarious climate change story about the endurance of the human spirit, romance, lust, love and heartbreak in a world that’s falling apart.
The ’80s arthouse cinema classic you’ve never seen – because it doesn’t really exist – performed live on stage.

From the multi-award winning team behind Whistleblower, The Irresistible, New Owner, It’s Dark Outside and Alvin Sputnik comes a deeply romantic visual extravaganza that will reignite your love of humanity. A faux foreign film performed live on stage, in an invented language with English subtitles, Western Australia’s The Last Great Hunt combine cinematic mastery and theatrical magic to tell interwoven stories of love in a world that’s falling apart.

After sell out seasons at Perth Festival and Mandurah Performing Arts Centre in 2019, Lé Nør [the rain] invites the audience to witness both the onscreen story and the behind-the-scenes action in a nostalgic celebration of everything worth fighting for.

Superbly executed…a sheer delight! – The Australian

…heartfelt yet hilarious, and engaging at every turn. – ArtsHub

The fantastic script and performances elevate the film from a clever gimmick to something… nothing short of spectacular. – Isolated Nation

Absolutely blown away by the talented performers from The Last Great Hunt theatre group. I loved the complex blend of live performance and live recorded video. Having so much happening on stage at once, meant that the show really summoned your full presence. The Last Great Hunt elevated a fun, quirky 80’s story into something totally unique and masterful. A must see show, that’ll linger in your mind long after it ends.

Absolutely mind blowing performance. Ten years in the making and it shows, the world was so deeply developed and rich. I'm still in awe of what I saw. Venue was great and the q&a following the performance was very insightful. Top notch live theatre!
