WHO IS TUMI THE BE?
Raised in Botswana listening to gangsta rap, Tumi related little to the lyrical content of his favorite rappers (Dr Dre, Xzibit and Jay-z) but the musicality and cadence of their raps (combined with a gentle nudge from his college sweetheart) inspired him to weave his thoughts, anxieties, and experiences into hip hop. The playful boom-bap rapper has carved out a sound that is steeped in the rich musical, spiritual, and poetic tradition, honing his skills in curbside ciphers at Melbourne bar Horse Bazaar and on stage with many of Melbourne's hip-hop legends.
