Cookin’ on 3 Burners featuring Stella Angelico

Australia’s hardest hitting Hammond organ trio Cookin’ On 3 Burners are bringing some post lockdown love to The Counts for a special one off show this November. Join the band on stage in the intimate setting for a night of wailing organ, twanging guitar and dirty drum breaks.

In true Cookin’ On 3 Burners fashion, these shows are set to be all live and full of vibe featuring fiery interplay from the trio as they break free from isolation measures. Special guest Stella Angelico from the extended CO3B family will feature and keep the heat up - good times guaranteed!
Cookin’ On 3 Burners have been pushing out funk and soul to the world from the musical heartland of Melbourne since 2001. Jake Mason’s swirling Hammond sits atop a hard grooving left hand bass that blends seamlessly with Dan West’s twanging guitar stylings and Ivan ‘Choi’ Khatchoyan’s benchmark drum breaks.

The musical bond of this trio of funky friends runs deep making them a versatile crew indeed. From festival mainstages to underground block parties, these seasoned performers are equally at home blazing over instrumentals as they are sharing their soul stew with a slew of singers and emcees who are all part of the extended Cookin’ family.

Seven albums and a crate of 7” singles deep in the game (now releasing on their own label Soul Messin’ Records), the group have taken their sound global with tracks picked up by DJs and tastemakers worldwide including Craig Charles (BBC6), DJ Numark (Jurassic 5) and WaxPoetics. In 2016, the group collaborated with French EDM wunderkind Kungs on the global smash hit Kungs vs. Cookin’ On 3 Burners version of their soul classic ‘This Girl’. The track hit #1 on the Billboard charts in 10 countries and was the most Shazamed dance song of 2016.

A Cookin’ On 3 Burners live show is an all access pass to all good feels where you find the band in their element – connecting with their fans new and old and sweating it out together for the love of the music. Building on their deep funk and sweet soul blueprint, the trio have brought their signature sound to collaborations with a diverse range of artists including Kaiit, Kylie Auldist, Louis Baker, Mantra, Tex Perkins and their resident live show vocalist, the dynamically fabulous Stella Angelico.

With local, national and international mainstage performances including The Roundhouse (UK), Tokyo Jazz Festival, Live Alcazar Rome, Queenscliff and Port Fairy music festivals and sold out club shows throughout Australia, Europe and the UK, the stage is the place to see Australia’s hardest hitting Hammond organ trio in full flight.

This performance will also be live-streamed for public broadcast and recorded, which may include ambient sounds and vision of the audience.

Please be reminded all visitors to Monash University Performing Arts Centres will be required to comply with government and University vaccination requirements.

Bands solid groove was further enriched by Stella's powerful vocals. Great performance and insightful Q&A made for an entertaining evening. The Count's is an excellent venue providing fabulous sound and high standard facilities. A suburban gem that will grow in stature.
