Andreas Brantelid and Konstantin Shamray in concert

Recitals Australia presents the fourth concert in its 2019 virtuoso series on Monday 23 September at 7.00 pm in Elder Hall North Terrace Adelaide.

The concert features the sensational Swedish-Danish cellist Andreas Brantelid performing with Russian-born pianist Konstantin Shamray in an all Russian/Soviet program which will include three sonatas for cello and piano: Myaskovsky Sonata No. 1, Shostakovich Sonata, Rachmaninov and a few surprises!

Andreas Brantelid hails from Scandinavia, winning worldwide critical acclaim for his thought-provoking interpretations and uniquely colourful sound. Born in Copenhagen in 1987 to Swedish/Danish parents, Andreas made his soloist debut at the age of 14 in a performance of the Elgar concerto with the Royal Danish Orchestra in Copenhagen.

Russian pianist Konstantin Shamray studied in Moscow at the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music with Professors Tatiana Zelikman and Vladimir Tropp, and the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg with Professor Tibor Szasz. In 2008, Konstantin won First Prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition. He is the first and only competitor to date in the 40 years of the competition to win both First and People’s Choice Prizes, in addition to six other prizes.
