Indonesian-born, Tokyo-based dancer and choreographer Rianto is known for his work with leading international figures such as Akram Khan and Choy Ka Fai, but here brings to Melbourne a work of startling intimacy and impact.
Trained since childhood in classical and East Javanese folk dance, Rianto is one of the world's leading specialists in Lengger, a cross gender dance form from Banyumas. Rianto’s is accompanied by a powerful live vocal and percussion score by multi-instrumentalist virtuoso Cahwati.
