Musical Memoirs of a Ten Pound Pom

Musical Memoirs of a Ten Pound Pom

A funny, nostalgic, poignant, musical romp through an amazing journey that began in 1964 when Hilary Henshaw, an English 12 year old, set sail on the ?SS Canberra? bound for? a brand new life in Australia and? a brand new dream. All for ten pounds!

Now very much a proud Australian, Hilary invites you to relive a time when more than a million excited Britons came to this wonderful land of opportunity.

Share her experiences? adjusting to a new country which was so familiar and yet so different? as a child performer during the early days of television, a young Operatic student at the often very comical Eisteddfods and a ?working tourist? travelling Australia as a musical theatre performer.

Of course, it is very much a musical journey. Songs from the old country to the new? from the British Isles to Broadway, from Operetta to Aussie Art Song and of course those wonderful songs of the sixties when it all began!

For anyone who can relate to facing changes, choices and challenges? and life in the swinging sixties!
