Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - String Quartet No. 19, K465 ‘Dissonance’

Tigran Mansurian - Testament
Alice Chance - ‘A Sundried Quartet’
Claude Debussy - String Quartet

Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major, K465, nicknamed ‘Dissonance’ was written between 1782 and 1785 and is the last one in a set of six quartets, dedicated to Joseph Haydn. The famous opening earned the piece its nickname.

Testament by Lebanese-Armenian Tigran Mansurian is a five-minute Lento, written in 2004 as a tribute to ECM Records-founder and producer Manfred Eicher.

Young Australian composer, Alice Chance (2018 APRA Finalist), has written a new string quartet for Acacia Quartet.

Debussy’s String Quartet, written in 1893, has become one of the most beloved pieces in the string quartet repertoire because of the stunning sensual beauty and variety of textures Debussy manages to create with these four homogeneous string instruments.

Amazing as always

Nice repertoire but the lead violist needs to sort out her breathing - its quite loud and distracting from the music

Lovely concert - beautiful program. Just what was needed to calm down post election tensions.

Enjoyed it

As usual great seats. I even got to sit next to young upcoming composer Alice Chance. Sensitive interpretation by very talented musicians, enlightening introduction to Chance’s ‘Sundried’ in a beautiful theatre

Outstanding performance and very enjoyable.
The only thing was there was someone (at middle front?) breathing heavily (every 10-20 seconds) like having blocked nose. That happened in both first/second half of the show and were very disturbing especially at quieter moments.
Apart from this, very good.
The Independent Theatre is perfect for this type of event in terms of sound quality and convenience.

Lovely afternoon of fabulous music. The young composer told us the images to visualise during her piece and it made it much more interesting. I recommend seeing this talented quartet.

Always a good mix of music from the quartet. This show featured some very modern offerings introduced by the young composer herself. The players are excellent and the time always flies.

A fantastic afternoon of superb music which was enjoyed but members of the audience young and old. The Mozart was fabulous, and the Debussy outstanding. But my favourite was the Alice Chance pieces complete with introduction by the Composer herself which made it truly special. Thank you

Wonderful show; some old works and some new from a young composer.
