THE CHAPERONE

THE CHAPERONE

The Chaperone takes place amid the backdrop of the tumultuous times of the early 1920’s. The life of a Kansas woman (Elizabeth McGovern, Downton Abbey) is forever changed when she chaperones a beautiful and talented 15-year-old dancer named Louise Brooks (Haley Lu Richardson, Law & Order) to New York for the summer. One of them is eager to fulfil her destiny of dance and movie stardom; the other hopes to unearth the mysteries of her past.

The film reunites the writer, director and star of Downton Abbey TV Series. The Chaperone, based on Laura Moriarty’s best-selling book, is scripted by Julian Fellowes, directed by Michael Engler, and stars Elizabeth McGovern, who played Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham in the landmark series.

Lovely little film- costumes & locations fabulous & Haley Lu Richardson just great! Saw her in a completely different role in 'Columbus'- a very versatile actress. Thank you!

What an awesome movie .... The Chaperone and it’s twists and turns ... a wonderful depiction of 1920’s New York. It was a mixture of the chaperone finding her past and dealing with family drama, and memories of Louise Brooks and her beginning.

The event itself was well planned, but movie not for me. My mum enjoyed it.

I had no idea who Louise Brooks was so to have a new true story come to life was great. Strangely enough a reference to L Brooks came up in a book I was reading some 2 weeks later that I was stoked to understand the reference.

Beautifully shot and a joy to watch. Very enjoyable with great acting.

This is nicely done, good attention to detail and well acted, it's predictable but that's not a bad thing.

I really enjoyed The Chaperone and it’s wonderful depiction of 1920’s New York. The film highlighted Louise Brook’s relationship with her chaperone and showed the beginning of Brook’s fame. For me, it was really about the chaperone finding her past and dealing with family drama. Overall, a nice movie.

What a delightful movie. It depicted the era well, and casting was perfect. The story was interesting, with touches of humour, mystery and drama. A few periods in the film it moved a little slowly but on the whole it was great.
