Long Shot
Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron) is one of the most influential women in the world. Smart, sophisticated, and accomplished, she’s a powerhouse diplomat with a talent for…well, mostly everything. Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen) is a gifted and free-spirited journalist with an affinity for trouble. The two have nothing in common, except that she was his babysitter and first crush. When Fred unexpectedly reconnects with Charlotte, he charms her with his self-deprecating humour and his memories of her youthful idealism. As she prepares to make a run for the Presidency, Charlotte hires Fred as her speechwriter, much to the dismay of her trusted advisors.
A fish out of water on Charlotte’s elite team, Fred is unprepared for her glamourous lifestyle in the limelight. However, sparks fly as their unmistakable chemistry leads to a round-the-world romance and a series of unexpected and dangerous incidents.

Hate to think differently but ...Definitely for 20 somethings! Condones rampant recreational drug/pill taking ( where it’s bought at random on the street) and portrays someone in authority who should be behaving more responsibly as far as I’m concerned. Would not want leaders of our country behaving in this manner.
An enjoyable romcom, but somehow neither plot, circumstance nor relationship between Theron and Rogen ever really convinces and engages. It does earn points for trying unfashionably to develop some characterisation and humour laughing with rather than at, although it manages to keep its Holywood pc credentials via references to white nazies, vacuous white male TV celebrity president, todie white male corporate America and misogynist white male TV presenters. Infact, Rogan is the only white male in the film not so treated is excused in pc mode by him being the source of slapstic depreciation as a man allowing Therons cute flawlessnes to shine through. For a contemporary Hollywood film though, some remarkable counter point in allowing a sympathetic cameo for a black American Christian republican.

The main players come together when Theron Madam Secretary needs a speech-writer and recently unemployed Rogen takes the position.
It is vaguely funny and of course they fall in love, even though very mis-matched.
It would suit a younger audience 18 to 35.
