Graduate Singers Announce 2019 Season
Graduate Singers – known as Grads – has announced its 2019 season. Announcing the program, Director of Music Karl Geiger said, “with four subscription concerts in two fabulous venues, and three collaborations, our 2019 season is packed with musical delights!”
In addition to presenting their own concert series, Graduate Singers is pleased to continue to collaborate with some of Adelaide’s finest musical ensembles. In August, they will join with the Elder Conservatorium Chorale for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s regular offering of The Last Night of the Proms. They then combine with Chorale and the Adelaide Chamber Singers to perform Duruflé’s Requiem, with renowned British organist Thomas Trotter on the magnificent refurbished St Peter’s Cathedral organ, in celebration of St Peter’s Cathedral’s 150th anniversary.

Grads' first season concert for 2019 is entitled Alleluia. Join Grads as they explore music inspired by the sacred and the spiritual.
A highlight of the program is Christ the King by New Zealand-born Sydney-based composer Clare Maclean. Maclean draws on the poetry of Dunedin-born poet James K. Baxter in this work, the words expressing the writer’s relationship to God through majestic imagery of the New Zealand landscape. Also featuring the soaring heights of Eric Whitacre’s Alleluia and the sparkling radiance of Dove’s Missa Brevis, this concert takes a musical journey from the impassioned to the sublime.
