After a break last year, German-made and co-produced films return in a nationwide festival to Australian cinemas showcasing the best cinematic talent Germany has to offer and boasting a program curated with exclusively Australian premieres. In collaboration with German Films (the national information and advisory centre for the promotion of German films worldwide), Palace Cinemas is giving the 15-year-old German Film Festival a fresh start in 2018.
The Festival program includes a contemporary selection of 26 feature films varying from award-winning dramas and box office comedies to documentaries and a selection of short films. Now in its 13th edition, Short Export 2018 presents six outstanding new short films from Germany, ranging from documentary, to animation and experimental fiction.
Additionally, this year’s program includes films especially dedicated to families, children and teens. Presented by the Goethe-Institut, the Kino for Kids sidebar will provide a six-film feast for young audiences. This section particularly invites schools to attend the Festival to engage with German culture and learn the language.
NOTE: These are in season double passes. There is a small delivery fee payable by you for postage and handling
This Festival is only playing in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide.
Fantastic opportunity to reconnect with German Film culture. I even remembered my high school German. Wonderful experience.
