Richard Clapton - Greatest Hits

Richard Clapton - Greatest Hits

To celebrate the release of his critically acclaimed album, “The House of Orange” Richard Clapton returns to The Palms on March 10th. The show will feature a full rock band of the stellar players who have now been with Richard for two decades and become an essential part of the musical DNA.

The show will feature a select few songs from the new album, but also all the classic hits from the last four decades; “Capricorn Dancer” “Deep Water” “I am an Island” “Best Years of Our Lives” “Girls on the Avenue” “Blue Bay Blues” and so many others.

“Every nation with a great tradition in rock whose longevity places them in a special, sparsely populated strata of the entertainment world. They are the tribal elders of popular music, you might say. If America has Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen, and the U.K. has Van Morrison and Paul McCartney, then we are proud to confer similar prestige on Richard Clapton. Songs like “Deep Water” and “Capricorn Dancer” are touchstones on the Aussie rock landscape, without which we wouldn’t really know who we are or where we’re going.”

Saturday 10th March, the legendary Australian icon, Richard Clapton took to the stage at The Palms at Crown.

Clapton, who was once the producer for INXS, has written many hit songs and made 20 albums in the past forty years. He has earned himself a name, world-wide as a prominent Australian singer-songwriter.

Clapton casually strolled onto the stage in his jeans, black T-shirt and his black sunglasses. He happily shared the spotlight on stage with his outstanding band. Together, they exchanged amusing banter throughout the night and the audience loved it. As the night went on, the music moved from acoustic, to rock to electro-rock. He performed songs from his latest CD, House of Orange. His new songs are immediately likeable. Scattered between his new material, Richard threw in the much-loved songs that brought him fame.

The audience was moved, entranced not only by Richard but also by the rich, hypnotic sound of his band. The Palms felt like someone's lounge room and all his devoted fans were there, in this intimate setting. In between songs people yelled out: 'Calendar Girl', 'Go – Richard!', 'Capricorn Dancer'. Clapton did not disappoint and the crowd went wild.

The concert went by too quickly. If you missed it, it is worthwhile going to see him in Geelong on the 18th of March 2018.
