Ghosts vs Skeletons

Ghosts vs Skeletons

Standup comedian Rose Bishop is making her Melbourne Fringe debut this year with ‘Ghosts vs Skeletons.’

Developed and written in collaboration with improviser Josh Chodziesner and director Joanne Redfearn, ‘Ghosts vs Skeletons’ is the story of Sarah, a writer for a beloved children’s TV show about friendship. Sarah doesn’t believe in friendship, though. She believes in success, and rubbing it in the faces of those who have wronged her.

‘Ghosts vs Skeletons’ is a black comedy about guilt, getting over yourself, and little cartoon ghosts.

After performing her debut full length show ‘Overcare With Bitsy Dupree’ at Melbourne’s Midsumma festival this year, Rose says: “I wanted to write about the feeling of being an adult, but realising that you’re still clinging to this really childish, simplified narrative about your life and who you are. I also just wanted to write about ghosts a bunch.”

Having been a writer for most of her life, Rose is still relatively new to performing but, after taking an improv class in early 2016 in an attempt to get over her stage fright, she found herself taking to performance like a duck to water, and also met her ‘Ghosts vs Skeletons’ collaborator Josh Chodziesner, who taught her first improv class.

Rose is now a regular on the Melbourne standup comedy scene, a cast member of the monthly improv show Sunday Buffet at the Improv Conspiracy Theatre, and co-producer of LEMON Comedy, a monthly standup show that celebrates diversity in comedy.

Reasonably funny. I enjoyed attending.

This was a great show! While Rose is new to acting, I would not have guessed this because she did a magnificent job. I was most impressed by the well-written script and humour that pervaded the show. Josh Chodziesner is also a sterling actor and I would expect any future productions of theirs to be well worth attending.
