The Words of Others and other plays

"The Words of Others" is a play by prolific Australian playwright, Wayne Tunks. It deals with the issues of bullying amongst teenagers - often in a hard-hitting manner, but ultimately with a positive message and one that gives hope and self-esteem to young people. It is an ideal play for a family with teenagers to attend., or for teenagers to attend with one another.

The play is bound to provoke discussions about the issue of bullying amongst young people, as it centres on the various forms that bullying takes, and the effect it has young people at the receiving end. It also focusses on the necessity to teach young people about resilience; by focussing on all the good things that are going on in their lives and on those who love them and treat them with respect. Therefore, attending this play will not be a negative experience for audiences member, but rather an educational one that will instil conversation. At times the show is also highly entertaining!

After "The Words of Others" there will be a series of other short plays that also relate to what it is like to be an adolescent in today's society.
Some of these short plays have been written by established playwrights, while others have been devised by the students themselves (with the assistance of their class teacher / director).

This show is a must for anyone who is a parent of a teenager and for teenagers themselves. It is contemporary play about an important issue that faces young people today. Writer, Wayne Tunks wrote this play especially for students at "Drama With A Difference"- One of Australia's leading, independent drama schools and the launching pad of many highly successful Australian actors. The school is run and taught by extremely experienced industry professionals, and the actors in this show are teenage students from the drama school itself.

Some of the cast have worked professionally, while others are recreational actors. This mix of professional directors, lighting designers and drama students makes this show one which falls into a semi-professional category.
