Let me off Uptown, is a musical tribute to the legendary jazz vocalist Anita O'Day, whose impeccable timing, swinging phrasing and vast palate of tone and emotion made her one of the hippest and most influential jazz singers of our time.
Performed by Melbourne jazz singer, Julie O'Hara, who, throughout her career, has often had her sound, scatting and rhythmic sensibilities likened to the great Miss O'Day. Julie will pay tribute to Anita's extraordinary career of musical highs and personal lows - the big band years, small group recordings, the iconic Jazz on a Summer's day performance, the Krupa years, novelty songs and torch song classics.
Accompanying Julie O'Hara is Mark Elton on bass, Andy Swan on drums, Peter Baylor on guitar, MD Dannie Bourne on piano and on trumpet, Matt Jodrell
