Ramblings and Misunderstandings

Ramblings and Misunderstandings

"Ramblings and Misunderstandings" is a series of scenes about the ways in which often misinterpret one another through communication.

The show is part of The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, 2017.

The performers are Adult Students of "Drama With A Difference" - One of Australia's leading, independent drama schools, with a history that spans over twenty-years. The school is the launching pad of many successful actors, and runs a wide variety of classes - for aspiring actors, and those who wish to use drama for recreational purposes.

The cast have worked on a series of monologues and group scenarios that revolve around the theme "Ramblings and Misunderstandings". As the title implies, this involves comic scenes where misunderstandings lead to humorous outcomes. There are also some individual pieces where someone simply rambles about life; always in an entertaining manner.

The scripts that have been chosen come from a wide variety of sources, and are by established and upcoming playwrights. Some are group scenes, while others are monologues, exploring what it is to be on the outside looking in.

The director, Chris Connelly, is a Melbourne based professional actor with extensive experience in Film. TV, Theatre, teaching and directing. Therefore, this piece of theatre is a collaboration between professional and non-professional theatre artists. Its ever changing format is bound to offer something for all tastes.

There are scenes about relationships - romantic and otherwise. Subjects such as marriage and dating are covered, with other scenes about the ways in which people try (and don't often succeed) in changing another person to be more like themselves.

There is plenty of individual humour in people who perceive themselves very differently from how the rest of the world views them. There is love, romance, envy, jealousy, denial - and most of all a lot of laughter. There's bound to be something for everyone in this eclectic mix of ever-changing scenes.
