A ground-breaking twentieth century music icon, Miles Davis inspired the likes of Prince and Michael Jackson. His music lives on through the Miles Electric Band – a ten-member, all-star concert playing Easter Saturday 15 April.
Expect a funk explosion when the Miles Electric Band hits Australia for the first time, performing music from the influential 1969-1975 era. Musicians who played with Davis during this seminal period feature in the line-up, including bassist Daryl Jones (The Rolling Stones, Sting) and Blackbyrd McKnight (Parliament).
The impressive collection of Miles Davis alumni in the concert also includes Robert Irving III on piano, noted percussionist Munyungo Jackson, and Grammy winners Christian Scott on trumpet and Vince Wilburn Jr. (Davis’ nephew) on drums. Davis’ long time keyboardist John Beasley also plays with the band.
Also featuring turntablist DJ Logic (The Roots) on the decks, saxophonist Antoine Roney, who's toured the world with jazz veterans Freddie Hubbard and Elvin Jones, and accomplished world musician Debasish Chaudhuri will be on tabla.
Together creating one of the greatest rhythm section line-ups ever assembled in this country has ever seen, the Miles Electric Band will be a fitting tribute to the grandfather of jazz.
