José Carreras | A Life in Music
After his triumphant comeback to the opera stage, legendary tenor JOSÉ CARRERAS is thrilled to be bringing his Final World Tour to Australia in February 2017 for three very special performances in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Renowned Australian soprano, Antoinette Halloran will join Mr Carreras at all performances. In Sydney and Melbourne, Mr Carreras is honoured to be performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and in Perth with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
In 2014/2015 JOSÉ CARRERAS marked his return to the Opera stage after eight years celebrating a sensational comeback in the title role in the new opera “El Juez” (The Judge). With standing ovations and sold out performances, reviewers hailed it a ‘dream comeback’.
Following his acclaimed performance, Mr Carreras began a worldwide Concert Tour taking him throughout Europe, Dubai, China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea. This tour included a sold-out show at the Royal Albert Hall in London last May.
“It is fantastic that I can bring this show to Australia, I have such fond memories of the great Australian audiences, people who share my love of music and are so generous,” Mr Carreras said.
A Life In Music will celebrate a performance with a very personal selection of music from the golden age of “La Belle Epoque” along with many different styles and songs from diverse tastes in music, including Opera, Operetta and Musicals.
“These are songs that always move me when I hear them and that always enthuse me. In these songs, there is the passion, the emotion, a feeling in my heart and soul that I express with my voice,” says Mr Carreras.
It will be an ode to life as well, and Mr Carreras knows well the topic of life. At the peak of his meteoric career he became ill, fighting against blood cancer – leukemia. Miraculously he survived and founded the “José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation” – he felt the need to return something to society. The aim of his foundation is – leukemia must be curable, always and for everyone!
When Mr Carreras is interpreting his songs, his audience can feel that singing is his life and every tone comes from his soul.
These three Australian shows for this Final World Tour will reflect on the extraordinary career of one of the greatest tenors of all times.

Amazing voice still and orchestra was fantastic. Agree with other comments no interaction at all though with the audience. Venue was not good for older people who needed to get to the floor - we offered assistance to many people who were struggling down the many stairs.
The evening was fantastic in Melbourne , I really enjoyed watching and listening to Jose's singing. Hewas very generous with his singing. My children joined me on the evening and we all had a great time. Thanks "On the House" team

A magnificent performance - an extraordinary evening.
The venue was "challenging" to get to, but worth every effort.
Great opportunity to see such an esteemed performer. The Margaret Court Arena however lacked ambience.
It was an honor to be there. The man is a legend and his voice is still strong. Unfortunately the sound engineers did not get it together till almost the end. The orchestra was fabulous, but the sound was not optimum till almost the end of the performance. The venue is also a disaster to get into and out of. For a new venue Margaret Court Arena could have had the audience traffic considered when building. I saw lots of elderly people totally exhausted and not looking too happy. We Ubered and it was still a challenge getting both in and out of the venue. Back to Carreras - SUPERB.

Completely blown away by Jose's performance, a truly memorable night. His voice was superb.The singer Antoinette and the MSO who accompanied him were also fantastic.
A brilliant summary of a life in music. Covering all aspects of his career. Musical selections include Opera arias, musical selections from Westside story and a tribute to the works of Franz Leher. His voice was amazing and he was backed up by a wonderful orchestra and soprano definitely a not to miss occasion.
A special night flawlessly performed by a musical legend ably accompanied by MSO.
Perhaps not the best venue for warmth and range of such a concert, but by the end of the night all that was forgotten with the strength of the performances on stage.
I must have been at a different show on Saturday evening in Melbourne?
Carreras had limited time on stage, no audience interaction, and Antoinette O'Halloran and the Orchestra were good, but no more than fillers to extend a short show. I disappointingly left at the interval by which time Carreras has only performed 4 numbers.

A once in a lifetime experience to hear Jose Carreras sing with such passion, emotion and very powerful voice. An altogether outstanding and most memorable performance. Full marks also to Antoinette Halloram who accompanied him perfectly and the wonderful MSO.

There are few shows that remain in my heart. Jose Carreras, not a young man, captivated thousands of people with his voice that went through people like electricity. This is certainly a gift from up above. Having had the privilege of being in the audience - I have enormous gratitude everyone involved, MSO, Antoinette Halloran, Duet Productions and of course Mr Carreras.
Simply beautiful! Jose Carreras is a living legend and master craftsman, so it was a privilege to witness his extraordinary performance and enjoy his collaboration with the gifted Australian Soprano, Antoinette Halloran and our wonderful Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

It was a privilege to see Jose Carreras. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra were wonderful as was Antoinette Halloran. Carreras, particularly in the second half, showed that he still has a breathtaking voice.

What a fantastic opportunity to see & hear Jose Carreras in Sydney! His accompanying soprano Antoinette Halloran was wonderful, as were the MSO & conductor. It was great to visit the new ICC Theatre at Darling Harbour, which allocated us very good seats. We recommend all WA members get to the Perth concert on Wed 22/2 for a night of wonderful songs from opera & music theatre. The Sydney concert was a delight.
Amazing performance by Jose Carreras, his voice is as powerful and beautiful as ever. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra played superbly as well.
Carreras still has it but unfortunately there was absolutely no rapport with the audience. He didn't acknowledge the audience at all. One sentence like 'hello Sydney" would have made a difference or he could have introduced his own songs instead of the PowerPoint presentation. He sang with a wonderful lady opera singer but at no stage was she introduced. Does anyone know her name? They received several standing ovations but there was no warmth to their presence.
