THE ADVENTURES OF PETER PAN & TINKER BELL RETURN TO PANTOLAND

THE ADVENTURES OF PETER PAN & TINKER BELL RETURN TO PANTOLAND

Today, Producer BONNIE LYTHGOE announced that one of Australia’s most popular all round theatre, television, radio and film performers TODD McKENNEY will play the role of ‘Captain Hook’ in the World Premiere of THE ADVENTURES OF PETER PAN & TINKER BELL.

When announcing the casting Bonnie Lythgoe said, “By hook or by crook, Todd will be Captain Hook; he is witty and smart and great for the part. Todd is the one and only ‘Hook’ for me. He sings, he acts and he dances like a dream. Just Perfect!

There was only one actor I visualised to play ‘Hook’ and that was Todd McKenney. He is so very talented, clever, experienced and flamboyant. The perfect characteristics for the perfect ‘Hook’. I am so excited he said ‘yes’!”

For the first time ever Bonnie Lythgoe Productions will present their world class pantomime outside of Sydney with the show opening at the Arts Centre on the Gold Coast playing from 23 June to 1 July. Peter Pan will then fly into Sydney’s State Theatre from 7 to 16 July then up and away to Melbourne landing in the Comedy Theatre from 21 to 30 July 2017.

This enchanting story will feature sumptuous glittering sets, spectacular effects, gorgeous fairytale costumes, fantastic song and dance numbers, infectious and riotous comedy, magic and bags of audience participation.

Casting is currently underway for the roles of Wendy, Peter, Tinkerbell, Tiger Lilly, Mr & Mrs Darling and the Lost Boys and will be announced in the very near future.

This pantomime was fun and modern and was very suitable (and amusing) for both children and adults. The dancing and singing were superb and everybody would have left the theatre feeling uplifted - I know we did. Well Done to the producer and the cast!

I have been to a fair few shows, but this is the first time I have ever been to a pantomime. It was absolutely fantastic! This was the best show I have ever been to by far. I loved how they really encouraged the audience to participate. The energy coming from each actor was phenomenal and I would definitely go again. Todd McKenney was an absolute star as Captain Hook, and Ksenia Zofi played Wendy Darling to perfection. I loved the Pirates and the Lost Boys too. I just wish that the actual story had much stronger female role models who are not just waiting around for Peter Pan to save them, loving Peter Pan regardless of him going away on adventures, etc, and encouraging females to accept a male partner who isn't treating them well (aka 'better the devil you know') song, bitchiness between females and dancing around scantily clad. But that's just a reflection of society at the moment, so this kind of crap is virtually unavoidable. Apart from that, this was a fantastic show - I love pantomime!
