Experience a memorable evening of solo piano music, performed by internationally renowned pianist and pedagogue Tamara Smolyar, Coordinator of Piano at Monash University. This recital presents a unique program of music by outstanding pianists who combine the arts of performance and composition.
The program is crowned with a new arrangement of Rachmaninov’s Trio Élégiaque No.2 by Tamara Smolyar and Anthony Halliday which explores the tonal possibilities of Rachmaninov’s lushly romantic writing for piano, violin and cello in a new interpretation for solo piano.
With an audience of just 150, this is an excellent opportunity to be seated on stage and up-close to the artist. This performance is the last in the piano series 'Wood, Metal & Vibrating Air', curated by musician and Executive Director of MAPA Paul Grabowsky. This unique and intimate recital will certainly provide a very special music experience.
Loved the performance and concept of this concert, with the audience seated on the stage around the piano. Having 5 premieres as well as a new arrangement of Rachmaninov's Elegie was fascinating, particularly with the introductions by the composers.
