This visually stunning, and beguiling evening of stage magic is a modern ‘Alice in Wonderland’ tale, full of mysterious characters and adventure. Through inventive use of shadow theatre, this troupe of world-class dancers create charming moments and spectacular scenes right before your eyes. Human bodies transform into faces, cars, buildings and more to transport audiences into the world of Shadowland.
Performed by internationally acclaimed company Pilobolus, Shadowland was conceived after their appearance at the 2007 Academy Awards. It was the first show of its kind to combine shadow theatre with dance, and has since wowed hundreds of thousands of fans across the world and inspired many similar productions.

Very innovative show, well executed and definitely different to anything I've seen before. I did find the storyline a bit confusing though! There was also a bit of a disconnect between the ethereal story and the rollicking fun of the end credits, where they created amusing tableaus of Australian & international cities. I think the end section was more along the lines of what people were expecting.
It was a totally immersive experience with each passing scene leaving the audience in joyful anticipation for the next. It is amazing how many forms can be achieved by the human body .
A truly magical night with a quirky story line to give it an edge.

Something really different!! Choreography was imaginative and dancers were fantastic.
A superb performance, the visual effects were stunning. Extraordinary creativity using the human body, in all kinds of formations to create visual illusion. Particularly beautiful were the images which used the human hand. I found the dancing too, exceptional. Never before have a seen dance which created the effect of weightlessness apparently so effortlessly.

This was a really entertaining show, I loved the amazing usage of the dancers bodies behind the screen to create such a fun and entertaining story. The dancers worked extremely hard and deserved the enthusiastic response that they received from the audience. The finale was some of the best work I have seen and the audience loved the Melbourne touches. Thank you.

How do they do it? The illusion.. one minute you see bodies and then a camel.. then human hands and suddenly an elephant trunk. Creative. Beautiful. A unique experience.
Excellent choreography and well coordinated dancers. Very entertaining though not really for young kids (there were a few there) and yes I agree the music did end up a bit distorted occasionally.

I used to be able to make a shadow on the wall of a dog with ears and make it bark. I haven't tried that in a while though. What I saw tonight was a LOT more advanced, you'll be glad to know.
It was stunning, so entertaining and so scintillating to watch. I found myself being lost in the adventure of the shadows and the powerful music. It was fun and I recommend it thoroughly!
Fantastic illusionary choreography. Sometimes the loud music was distorted and the shadow lights were occasionally dazzling. Especially liked their finale of New York and Down Under. Overall it was a very creative and enjoyable night's entertainment. Thanks OTH.
