Springer

SPRINGER by S. Mrowinski
Performed by Kristof Kaczmarek

A one-man play about betrayal, loneliness and disappointment
Coming to Yarra Ranges this winter
Performed as a part of POLART Festival, at Fairfax Studio, Arts Centre last December

This one man show — featuring Kristof (Krzysztof) Kaczmarek — arose from an adaption of a short story of the same title. With a narrative evolving around sport, Springer is the story of an ambitious sportsman, betrayal and loneliness in the face of a ferociously consumerist world, where emotions can easily become an unforgivable liability. The writing brutally highlights the paradox of a simple man, whose fierceness and strength underlay his success, yet who was indefensible to all that was morally vacuous around him.

My oldest son is a sportsman so the emotions expressed in the play he really could relate to. He flet the ending could have provided more solutions to the dilemmas expressed.

Very good play, and very well acted of course. I encourage others to go along and see it. It only goes for an hour, and the time flew by (always a sign that you're engrossed in what's going on). Rug up nice and warm if you do go though, as you'll be able to enjoy it a lot more if you're not thinking about being cold. Very good.

Would like the opportunity to see the show again
