TZIGANI

TZIGANI

It has been said that all one needs to get drunk is a glass of water and a Gypsy fiddler

Tzigani’s new repertoire includes exciting music arranged by Hungarian composer Lakatos as well as the French master, Reinhardt.

They play the music of the much loved classical composers like Brahms, Canary who were influenced by gypsy music. Tzigani will engage you with their joyous Klezmer wedding music, Brazilian Choros, Romanina and Russian Gypsy Dances– all this in one evening show!

As a special treat, they have also prepared some exquisite Argentinean Tango. All this, with original arrangements and interpretation - every number is crisp and wildly kinetic.

Their innovative sound has already taken them on tours to Singapore, Korea and all over Australia. Now they are bringing their own brand of gypsy fiddling music to The Czech House on Sunday 13th May at 5pm.

Tzigani consists of the rhythm section, propelled by Jeremy Alsop on the bass, tight violin playing by Igor Oskolkov and elegantly woven together with blazing, but occasionally dreamy, cello of Alex Begelfor and the extraordinary Vitaly Barishnikov who always surprised audiences on piano. This group will be joined by Dasha, the youngest member of Tzigani, who has been playing with Tzigani from the age of 8! This gorgeous girl has gypsy blood in her veins and passion in her heart that makes her violin playing vigorous like raging fire!

Come see for yourself - this exuberant mélange of various gypsy styles performed by reputable, classically trained musicians, with a wild passion that takes them from the traditional classical genre they studied and performed for most of their lives into the new realm of gypsy fervor.
