JeruZalem

JeruZalem

“There are three gates to hell. One in the desert, one in the ocean, and one in Jerusalem.” – Jeremiah 19

It’s Judgement Day in Jerusalem. When two American frat girls are invited by a handsome young archaeologist to party in Jerusalem, they are ill-prepared for what’s about to unfold: the end of the world. Trapped within the walls of the city, the trio must survive against a plague of the undead and winged demons.

Winner of the Audience Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival, JeruZalem is one of Israel’s first-ever horror films. A schlockyromp with a keen sense of humour, JeruZalem is the cleverest twist on the found-footage sub-genre to date.

“JeruZalem’s production values rival much of Hollywood’s output, so if these are Israel’s baby steps into genre territory, then we are in for some great things.” – The Horror Section

Point of view filming can be off putting for some people but I believe it worked for the most part here. The perspective allowed for some excellent scenes. Jerusalem made for an interesting setting that provided regularly visually attractive streetscapes. Storyline works on the premise of "What if it's really true and does happen?", with plenty of room for the religious conspiracy theorists. A good horror film with the odd chuckle.

Not my cup of tea. The camera angle was funny and it made me feeling sick. Sorry, I had to leave before the end of the movie.

Another typical zombie/undead movie. It was fun to see the setting of Jerusalem. There was a good little twist at the end.
