AICE Israeli Film Festival

AICE Israeli Film Festival

The AICE Israeli Film Festival returns to Palace Cinemas in August, 2015, this year pulling no punches in showcasing all aspects of Israeli culture – the good, the bad and the ugly.

Respected film industry stalwart Richard Moore joins the Festival as Artistic Director and has curated a bold programme that is at once tough, tender, critical, political and funny, offering an assortment of contemporary and historic Israeli cinema, with a total of 35 titles.

From the confronting and controversial, to the celebratory and feel-good, highlights include PRINCESS – directed by Tali Shalom Ezer and multi-award winner at the Jerusalem International Film Festival 2014 (including Best Feature Film and Best Actor); YONA - based on the novel “Yona Wallach”, this film is a no holds barred depiction of the turbulent life of one of Israel’s greatest poets and is not for the faint hearted.

Opening night this year is the Australian premiere of MATT CASPI – CONFESSION, direct from Doc Aviv, Israel’s documentary festival, where Moore found a numbers of titles for this year’s program. “I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the festival – it’s full of songs, intimate moments and Caspi’s deadpan humour; it’s as much a film about an Israel of the past as it is a searing personal biography of a living legend”.

The IACE Israeli Film Festival 2015 will screen as follows:

SYDNEY
Palace Verona– August 17 to 30

MELBOURNE
Palace Como & Palace Brighton Bay – August 18 to 30

CANBERRA
Palace Electric City – August 18 to 30

PERTH
Cinema Paradiso – August 20 to 26

The cinema was lovely and comfortable. The film highlighted many issues currently happening in Israel/ Palestine. Informative, didn't leave us with a positive hopeful feeling, but that is maybe accurate. I learnt a fair bit.
