Mandela in Me - Memeza
Internationally acclaimed South African performance ensemble Memeza brings their latest show Mandela In Me to a season in Australia.
The Boite and Khoza Entertainment present a concert at Luna Park at 6:30pm, on Sunday May 24th It is a fabulous opportunity to see and hear the explosive performance by these 22 phenomenally talented young artists.
A fusion of African music, drumming and dance, the show creates a conversation around the issue of the stigma of HIV/AIDS. It offers the intense choral singing that characterised the Struggle against Apartheid, with dance and drumming. It is
powerful, energised and brilliant.
The work of the choir in the 1ght against the epidemic goes beyond song. Eighteen members are trained and certi1ed HIV Counsellors and testers, working in rural Kwazulu/Natal.
Their Luna Park performance offers a marvellous opportunity to engage with this inspiring art form - art and life interwoven.
