BLACK SEA
From Academy Award® winning director Kevin Macdonald (Touching the Void, The Last King of Scotland) and starring Jude Law (Cold Mountain, The Talented Mr Ripley), this gripping and suspenseful thriller centres on a rogue submarine captain (Law) who pulls together a misfit crew to seek out a sunken treasure lost in the depths of the BLACK SEA.
Every man on board is promised an equal share of the bounty, and with it freedom from the hardships of their working class life. But the men quickly realise that the smaller their crew, the greater each man’s share and greed and desperation soon take hold on board their claustrophobic vessel.
A shocking betrayal, a startling discovery and escalating uncertainty about the mission cause the men to turn on each other. As the situation reaches breaking point, the crew must make an uneasy truce if they hope to ever make it back to the surface alive.
A fine ensemble cast fashion a terrific set of characters, each affected in different ways as they are thrown together in a visceral, gritty and adrenaline charged environment and propelled on a daring voyage. Like Macdonald’s previous films, BLACK SEA explores the human psyche when pushed to its limit. The result is electrifying.

The plot doesn't entirely hold water... but Law exudes brawny charisma and helps the film build up a good head of sweaty, claustrophobic tension.

This movie is about group of people stuck together in a very close environment of submarine. Personally, I was fascinated how the human behavior changes depending on situation and person's background. Love the movie! Made me think!

Black Sea, dark themes. I questioned my own values as I took this journey along with the characters in this film.
Good movie. A dynamic thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The ending is very heavy though.
Regular movie buffs will recognise many standard 'thriller' plot points, but this movie is set in a unique location and has many interesting moments. It is very well made, well acted well filmed and certainly holds your attention throughout. Worth seeing!

What happens when you put a dozen men in a dark metal tube underwater and shake?
It doesn't end happily ever after, but I don't think any submarine movie ends well for those involved.
