'e-baby'

Funny, poignant and powerful!

A story of our times...

Carolyn Bock stars as Catherine, an Australian woman living in London who has everything - a husband, a career and an international life. Everything except a child.

To fulfil her dream, she hires Nellie, mother of two and first-time surrogate living in the surrogacy friendly state of Massachusetts in the US.

Together they embark on a journey that creates and changes lives.

Starring Sarah Ranken as Nellie, 'e-baby' is the story of two iconic women - strangers with one goal.

A story of our times,'e-baby' is written by Jane Cafarella and directed by Anna McCrossin-Owen, with design and costume by Matilda Woodroofe, video design by Brian Cohen (Umbershoot Films), sound design by Kahra Scott-James and lighting design by Siobhain Geaney. Production and stage management by Lindie Li Wan Po.

Loved the show very interesting concept and use of set.

interesting story

An OK story. Surrogacy is not very dramatic subject matter these days. The use of boxes was somewhat gimmicky and did not add any dramatic or metaphoric layers to the story

Loved the play, acting was great, set design was fantastic

Bell

Intriguing story with skilled actors.

Silly me thought it was going to be more of a comedy so had to readjust my expectations. Bit 'intense' for me at times (because of my sensitivity to topic)....but very well acted and thought provoking!

Enjoyed it but would have enjoyed it even more if there had been an interval.

hyron

interesting, involving, well played

I do hope the show does well in Sydney and internationally. So topical. It deserves to. But 90 mins of tension in a chair without an interval...this mere male could not have an epidural of chardonnay. Would give it5 stars if we had a chance to discuss it mid-term (so-to-speak) Ignorant man called Peter M.

There ought to be more publicity for this wonderful production. The entire story/conversation is played out very well by the cast, drawing the audience into their world of angst, sadness, joy, desperation etc. A big thumbs up. Fantastic!!!!!

lamicena

A powerful play. The subject of infertility and surrogacy raises ethical and complex issues, though we were glued to the show beginning to end.

Good performance of both actresses, and we appreciated the realism on a complicated issue.

Great play!!! A touching real life story. Very well performed. The use of simple boxes, I found, very creative and they carried my thoughts well beyond the performed play. Excellent.

It is an interesting sad story. The actors are good. The use of boxes is somewhat distracting.
