ACACIA QUARTET is one of Australia's most exciting and sought-after string quartets, known for its work with internationally renowned composers and whose performances feature regularly on ABC Classic FM, Fine Music 102.5FM and Qantas In-flight Entertainment. Established just 4 years ago, Acacia has already been nominated for both an ARIA Award and an APRA-AMCOS Art Music Award, and has quickly won great respect for versatile and inventive programs which couple established repertoire with the unorthodox.
'The Company We Keep' features mesmerising works for string quartet: Philip Glass' beautiful and hypnotic ‘Company’, Gershwin’s achingly tender ‘Lullaby’ and Kreisler's charming and romantic String Quartet in A minor. And don't miss the brand new Australian work by awardwinning, LA-based composer Joe Twist, called ‘Dancing With Somebody’ – inspired by Whitney Houston - where Acacia switches from classical to rock quartet!
Featuring violinists Lisa Stewart and Myee Clohessy, violist Stefan Duwe and cellist Anna Martin-Scrase, Acacia has recorded 4 albums, including their ARIA-nominated recording of songs with soprano Jane Sheldon, North + South, and the complete string quartets of Elena Kats-Chernin, Blue Silence (Vexations840), selected as 'Editor's Choice' in Limelight Magazine, 'CD of the Week' on ABC Classic FM, and nominated for a 2013 APRA-AMCOS Art Music Award.

The venue was wonderful with great acoustics. It was an enjoyable evening, but somewhat lacking in excitement and virtuosity. The Joe Twist piece was the most impressive.
Great venue, not my normal choice for music but very impressed with the sound and quality of this polished quartet. A great evening, thank you.
