The first ever recorded fadista, Maria Severa is an historical figure whose memory is forever bound to Fado. The Fado of Maria Severa embarks on a journey of passion, tragedy and history on the streets of Lisbon, Portugal.
Narration is accompanied by a live soundtrack of achingly melancholic Fado and provides a rare insight into the lyricism and poetry of the Fado tradition. Featuring Leni Philippe-Janon on Classical and Portuguese Guitars and Carolina Cordeiro singing the songs of her city of birth.
