MCO: Elegies & Dances
MCO presents an emotionally-charged homage to the two great moods of the string orchestra: the sparkling drive of the dance, and the poignancy of the elegy. Stirring Bachrich and Stokowski arrangements of famous Baroque adagios will take your breath away. On the dance card are Bartók’s rustic regionalism and Grieg’s enduring tribute to the courtly manners of the eighteenth century.
With over 250 concerto appearances to his credit, MCO Artistic Director William Hennessy is one of Australia’s best-loved soloists and his performance of Bach’s Concerto in A minor in this program is an event not to be missed.

The MCO were amazing, beautiful, faultless. Deakin Edge is so brilliant for music as the acoustics and soundproofing are perfect. You're shut away in the heart of noisy football Melbourne, in your own beautiful world.
Really enjoyed this, especially the modern piece in the second half and the rendition of 'English Country Garden'
Great night out, beautiful environment and excellent music
This was an interesting program exquisitely played. It showcased the mastery of William Hennessy and the group of very talented young musicians with him. I agree, it took my breath away and there were those magic moments at the end of pieces where there was absolute silence as the audience was still in the music. I look forward to more concerts soon and will subscribe for next year.
