Georgian Choirs & The Ice Haloes
Gorani, Australia’s unique 10 voice male singing ensemble, specializes in the performance of traditional songs from Georgia & Bulgaria. These include sublime church songs and blissful healing songs. Some of the songs are so old that their meaning has been lost. Others reflect on the harsh life not only of the farm workers, but of their faithful animals. There are love songs, some of which we are reluctant to translate in polite company. We even sing about horses galloping from Tbilisi to Moonee Ponds.
Gorani refers to the harsh mountains, misty forests, and feisty spirit that are the cradle of many of the songs.
The Ice Haloes are not your average a capella group. More a band without instruments, their act is a combination of stunning voices and unconventional arrangements.
