Open for Inspection captures the essence of international student life in a share house – confined space, drama, fun, conflict, loneliness, method in madness & unity in diversity.
Open For Inspection, showing at Chisholm TAFE is set in a share house with a potpourri of local and international students, who have advertised for one more flat mate in an already cramped & overcrowded space. The audience gets to inspect the house, watch an average day in the share house and then interview to become the new flatmate...if they like.
Can we tempt you to inspect our space and interview for the position? We offer you a participatory & interactive experience, with an element of the unknown. We hope you take back something memorable from this humble abode.
Open for Inspection is a new offering by Chai Junction, as part of the Anywhere Theatre Festival, Frankston. The Festival is supported by the City of Frankston and has shows anywhere but in a traditional theatre space.

This is not your regular theater production. Don't expect to sit quietly in the back row watching events unfold. You will have to get involved, but the cast were very welcoming and sensitive to people who were not sure about participating.
Their clever use of the space and existing facilities of the venue allow the set to have minimal props but still give the feeling of being in the chaotic share house.
The "noisy neighbours" in the production are actually a music group who perform songs for the audience at certain points in the show. This brings a nice touch to the experience and helps ease the audience in and out of scenes.
