Wish I Was Here

Wish I Was Here

Wish I Was Here is a 2014 American comedy drama film directed by Zach Braff and co-written with his brother Adam J. Braff. The film stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Josh Gad, Kate Hudson, Jim Parsons, Ashley Greene, Joey King, Mandy Patinkin, and James Avery in his final film role before his death.

Braff stars as Aiden Bloom, a 35-year-old Los Angeleno whose dream of being a successful actor could be hitting its sell-by date. His patient wife, Sarah (Kate Hudson), is supporting the family with a dead-end job at the water department; his father, Gabe (Mandy Patinkin), is paying to send their kids, Grace (Joey King) and Ticker (Pierce Gagnon), to yeshiva school.

But when Gabe announces he needs the tuition money to pay for last-ditch cancer treatments, Aiden decides to home-school the kids — leading to life lessons for all the family, including his reclusive brother, Noah (Josh Gad).

Independently funded through a Kickstarter, this film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014 before opening in US cinemas in July 2014.

Really good. This movie has more of a European sensibility than an American one. It is about people rather than action. Very satisfying
